The Oakland Athletics were swept by the Cleveland Guardians over the weekend to begin a nine-game road trip. The Athletics are 8-14 on the season and have one just once in their last six games. They are also 1-6 on the season against the Guardians.
While we have seen the young A’s play better than expected over the first month, there have been some peculiar decisions made from a roster standpoint. Nico highlighted several in his column from Sunday. The situation with Esteury Ruiz is astounding. I have been critical of his play in the past, but given the roster situation the A’s have, Ruiz needs to be playing every day either in the majors or at Triple A.
