Scott Gomez was given a professional tryout contract today with the St. Louis Blues. This, of course, was very exciting for fans, if, by “exciting” you mean “perplexing.” Gomez, a 35-year old who the New Jersey Devils decided not to extend a second tryout contract.

Gomez was signed at the beginning of last season by the Devils after trying out at their training camp and had a decent season on the bottom lines, posting seven goals and 37 points over 54 games.
